THE VOICE OF NORTH AND WEST VANCOUVER north shore Newsstand Price 50¢ INVESTIGATORS FROM several agencies are scouring the Fisherman’s Cove area and talking to witnesses as they attempt to determine what caused a collision between some B.C. Hydro wires and a float plane Sunday. “His floats went right through the wires,”’ said Kim Hennecker, who witnessed the incident from the deck of a boat he was working on. “There were sparks from both ends of the wires. His plane wavered a little bit but | don"t think the guy even knew what had happencd.”’ “The guy’’ was pilot Douglas Hogarth, who land- ed the plane in Howe Sound just after the incident and taxied it to a dock on Eagle Island where he is believed to have been visiting friends. Because of the accident his friends — and the other residents of Eagle Island — were without power for about nine hours. Hennecker said planes that do appear in the Fisherman’s Cove area usually land in the Sound and taxi in from there. **This guy was right out of line,”’ Hennecker said. ‘‘! couldn't believe he was com- ing in like that.’’ Hennccker first noticed the plane as it banked around Eagle Island before heading out and into the power lines.
