1888, the Britannia Mines
have had a well-documented,
itlustrious history. In the
1920s, the mines were the
largest copper producer in the
British Empire. At shurdown
in 1974, after seventy vears of
operation, a multi-racial work-
force more then 60,000

strong had produced more
than 50 million tons of copper
ore.

ondary schools throughout
B.C.

The event, which rakes
place during National Donor
Awareness Week, from April
19 to 26, will include partici-
pation by children who have

had an organ transplant or are
on the waiting list for one.

The 3 km fin run, walk,
wheel or roilerblade is B-C.’s
largest single-day extra curric-
ular school activity. It is orga-
nized by B.C. School Sports
and is Sponsored by the B.C.
Dairy Foundation.
