That’s the sentiment expressed by protectionist North Shore residents, who don’t want to open the gates, in this case the Lions Gate, to the migrating hordes. If we make North and West Vancouver too 2ccessible, they argue, the hillsides will be razed to be replaced by new development inhabited by families taxing our over-burdened schools and municipal services. Eco-con- scious commuters agree but for different reasons: a bridge with the capacity to carry an increased traffic volume to and ~~ from the North Shore does nothing to help people kick their auto addiction. But clearly a solution must be found, and long-suffering drivers have been in limbo long enough.
