SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING Experiencing a revelation of accountability MY COLLEAGUE, Christopher Moon, author of Polestar’s The Power Of The Gift, is also my personal friend. We teach the same principles within the context of our counsel- ling sessions and workshops. Prior to interviewing him we shared some silence. Then, upon forewarning him, I began a radi- cal line of questioning designed to reveal truth. He - trusted the process, of cowrse, because he is authentic. He loves ‘‘what is true.” Qne of my questions “What are we to you?’’ His response, ‘‘That that path or ‘way through’ has nothing to do with credentials. There’s no - preferred membership in the higher mind.” Within an hour of meeting one of his beloved mentors, Chuck Spezzano, he experienced a revela- tion of accountability. He sud- denly realized that he was respon- sible for everything bent the other way. l asked, “To what do you at- tribute that happening?’’ His im- mediate response, ‘*Grace!”’ He went on to explain, ‘Every incredible thing that has ever happened tc me, [I’ve had abso- lutely nothing to do with it. There were two major impacts in my life. One was Maharaji, one was , Chuck, and Chuck was in- strumental. in helping me under- , stand -Maharaji and Maharaji in helping me understand me.” I. asked -him whether he was “great.** He replied, ‘‘‘The ques- tion stops. my mind.” I opined .that nothing could be greater than that; then, “In what way are you great?’’ “I’m great because I can be grateful.”’ Christopher is a catalyst for others’ realizing their inherent greatness.. He encourages em- powerment. ’ Considering what he teaches, ‘it’s clear that he would know that he’s great. “If you can ‘see others’ greatness, obviously you embody tha t too.”” ‘y asked for his defi nition of “great.”? “To. me_ it’s directly related to ‘surrender...’ Then, “Greatness is the conscious savos- ing of life’s bounty.’’ - I asked what his next step was. “To see the school we are creating in the Kootenays flourish. “All courses are taught by teachers was, dedicated to the principles of ac-° countability. My ‘course is on leadership. There’s a marked need for counsellors interested in récogniz- jng that they have only themselves - to counsel, only themselves to learn from . accountability among . By Robert Aiken Contributing Writer heal... the school is geared toward .that. It’s time for people to know they’re leaders.”* . In response to more question- NELSON ASTROLOGER Christopher Moon will be speaking In North Vancouver on October 7. ing, he went on to say, ‘*I see that underlying every counsellor, myself included, is the fear that if we did too good a job we would work our way out of a job. There may be a tendency among thera- pists as well to actually hold their clients back by creating dependen- cy... giving the client the idea that _ 1 asked. their growth depends on a teacher such as themselves."’ Regarding his book: ‘‘When I was writing it, the message | was getting... just lighten up! Don’t make your personal growth such a science. Let it be a living, joyful experience.”” “You've chosen to be happy?”’ ‘I’ve chosen choosing happiness.’ Then we discussed what he had NEWS photo Paul McGrath gotten from one of my _ recent North Shore News columns; “Since everything is but an ap- parition, perfect in being what it is, having nothing to do with good or bad, acceptance or rejection, one may. well break .out into laughter!”’ Then, he shared, “There has Canadian-made product, with many features including: *° Built-in modulating thermostat ® Variable speed fan ® Large viewing glass _ ® Heat by-pass damper control © 76% efficient, fired at a 30,000 BYU's LICENSED GAS CONTRACTOR Mie A & A GAS FIREPLACES LILOCATION> Nn 1500 PEMBERTON (Across from Shaw Cabie) 986-7055 — been a danger that | would want to get people to get attached to me as a teacher. | was willing to use glamor and everything else to do it. Then, at the time of my marriage, I realized that I would be selling my soul.’’ We agreed that charm-power or ‘‘charisma’’ is meant for healing, not to create another false idol. “I wanted to create a teacher in the book (The Power of the Gift) nothing glamorous about... that he wasn’t showing that he could do something that others couldn't. He was just being himself.’’ I asked when we could expect his next beok. He didn’t krow. “There’s about eight in mind, vut with a son and another baby com- ing..."” I dearly love the rare degree and quality of aspiration that Christopher demonstrates. Aspira- tion for love, light and wisdom. Work with him and you may find yourself shifting from a mode ‘IT’S FUN IT’S of unsatisfying compromise to 2 place of uncompromising satisfac- tion.
