Award-winning chowder sought

NORTH SHORE creamy clam
chowder connoisseurs have only
two days left to enter the Fourth
Annual Clam Chowder Contest
slated for Waterfront Park.

Chefs in two categories — pro-
fessional food services and the
general public — will try their
hand at concocting the best cream
clam chowder ever in their bid for
top spot.

Competition is expected to be
stiff — with some of the latest en-
trants including the North Shore

News, Crossings Restaurant, the
Lonsdale Recreation Centre and
North Shore Neighbourhood
House — so contestants should
prepare to whip up their chowder
as never before.

The slate of judges was recently
finalized and includes News food
columnist Barbara McCreadie,
former News columnist Eleanor
Godley, cookbook author May
Adams, chef Pierre Dubrutle and
food editors Jane Thompson and
Eileen Dwitllies.

said parks events coordinator and
contest organizer Rete McKay.

Radio station CKNW will be on
location, and Sir William and
Lady Bellingham will be on hand
from Bellingham, Wash., as part
of a fact-finding trip to see hcw to
put on a top-notch chowder con-
test.
