Critical Band, featuring the playing of Eigenfeldt and the musical pieces of Armanini, is featured in one of two Eclectic Electric nights of contemporary and innovative new music being hosted by the Vancouver Pro Musica Society. Joining the band will’ be a number of guest artists, including Daniel Scheidt, a North Shore res- ident and composer who. puts together bright new music pieces. Go slowly. ‘Giants’ come to North Van WILD, WEIRD and wonderful giants come to the stage at the Centennial Theatre in North Van- couver Nov. 8 for the third offer- ing of the Fall Family Festival. A new art form not distinctly mime, masks or dance, the Theatre of the Giants blends many disciplines, with the masks and costumes Original fibre creations. In the North Vancouver show, a series of mythical and humorous characters are brought to life with a collection of traditional native stories and legends. Audience members will see a 15-foot dajising flamingo, the eating stomachs and something dubbed as the legend of the fat boy and giants without hearts. “It’s really a spectacular little piece,’’ Centennial Theatre publicist Lorraine Aspden said of the flamingo. ‘It’s fascinating and interesting stuff — it’s just com- pletely unique. It’s a blend of all different things.’’ Under creator David Secunda, the show has toured to Quebec, the Ottawa Summer Dance Festival and the International Summer Arts Festival in Hong Kong.
