NEWS photo Tom Bu y News race set to sail THE 10TH annual North Shore News sailing race kicks off on June 21 and skippers are advised to get their entries in to the News office as soon as possible. The annual day of nautical fun and friendly competition is slated this year for Father’s Day with the post-race awards and festivities better than ever. In the past 10 years, the race has grown annually to last year’s grand total of more than 60 racers par- ticipating in the 12-mile race from Dundarave Pier. . Racers from previous years will be familiar with the course, which starts at Dundarave Pier, goes to Point Grey and ends up af the Kit- silano Yacht Club. Novice and experienced sailors ‘ alike say the North Shore News sailing race is a perfect event for a . fun-filled day of sailing and strik- ing scenery. * . Official starting time is 10-a.m. and official finish time is 3 p.m. Following the race, festivities in- clude the usual —- and unusual — awards, The Granville Island Hotel's Pelican Bay dining room will be the site of the sailing race awards, where every participant gets a Salty Dog certificate.
