Shaken hikers saved TWO WOMEN hikers were plucked by helicopter off a cliff face in the Lions Bay area Sunday. Doris Hodel aad Beatrice Gubeli, both of Surrey, had been hik- ing with ar organized group of E1, when they went missing Satur- day after taking the wrong trail. The Lions Bay Search and Rescue team, with assistance by the Nocth Shore Rescue Team, were able to locale the women earls Sunday morning. An RCMP helicopter was called in from Vancouver tstand but because of the difficulty of the terrain, a smatler commercial helicopter made the airlift aC around 1:30 p.m. The women were reported to be cold and hungry, bul they did not sustain any injuries. Firefighters kill flatbed blaze NOKTH VANCOUVER District firefighters were called Thursday to put out a fire in a Smithrite flatbed. The early-morning fire caused about $5,000 damage to the truck and appears to have been started by an oil-line break, a fire official said. The driver was not injured in the blaze, which broke out when the truck was midway up a section of the Upper Levels Highway, known as the Cut, near Lonsdale Avenue.
