operating a temporary en-
vironmental incinerator at
the foot of Columbia Street,
and is catering to cruise
ships and about 10 per cent
of the foreign ships coming
into the harbor, he said, half
of the year.

But the new incinerator
would create six full-time
jobs, year round, he said.

Ninety per cent of the ap-
proximately 15,000 ships a
year coming into Van-
couver’s harbor are dumping
garbage either in Canadian
waters, or just outside of
them in international waters,
both of which are illegal}.
