THEFT FOILER A NORTH Vancouver company began distributing a vehicle anti- theft system from its North Shore base on Friday. John McKay of Vehicie Security Inc. (VSI) said the Foiler anti- theft. system works better than conventional! car alarms. Whereas a car alarm will merely tell the vehicle’s owner that the vehicle has been broken into, the Foiler is an engine disabler which prevents the would-be thief from driving the vehicle away. It is autonatically activated once the engine is turned off. “In order for the engine to be started the owner simply turns the key to the ‘ignition on’ position and then momentarily triggers a special security switch and within 10 seconds turns the key to start Sunday, April 12, 1992 - North Shore News - 27 Suri Rattan BUSINESS BRIEFS He added that the Foiler has mind and sells for a suggested retail price of $99, McKay said the Foiler was designed by a North Vancouver resident after his daughter had a vehicle stolen each year for four years from outside her North Shore residence. “With this in mind, Clive Ross, a North Vancouver designer and father of the unfortunate victim, went to work on what is now the latest weapon against car theft,’’ said McKay. He added that there is a one in 30 chance that the average North Shore two-car family will have a vehicle stolen, while across B.C. a vehicle is stolen every 20 minutes. The Foiler will be distributed throughout North America by VSI and can be purchased through car dealerships, gas stations, Auto 7 SEAIRS Sears Service Centre 2820 Underhill, Burnaby 420-8211 We service what we sell!
