Langford was attempting to break his own lap record which he set three years ago. In 1987, Langford broke a 13-year-old race record in *D” sports racing — originally set by the team of Bob and John Randall. However, rainy conditions prevented him from setting a new record. Because Langford never qualified, he had to start at the back of the 15-car field in the pouring rain. Due to a wet and slippery track, Langford couldn't win the race and break the record. Lawn bowlers win BC fours A FOURS team from the North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club will be representing B.C. at the Canadian finals after they won the men's B.C. fours lawn bowling championships held at the Terminal City Lawn Bowling Club. The finals, where nine provincial teams compete, will be held in Regina from Aug. 19 ta 24. The North Vancouver squad includes skip Peter Fish, 43, David Brown, 52, David Duncalf, 56, and Mark Raymond, 27. They defeated the 1989 silver medallist team 21-12, led by skip Henry Clarke, Jim Logan Junior, Bob Scott, and John Kohanuck of the Vancouver South Lawn Bowling Club. Last year’s B.C. champions, skipped by North Vancouver's Bob Scullion were eliminated in the semi-final. This is the first time the Fish rink have played together.
