the many opportunities available at
the North Shore Information and
Volunteer Centre.

ENTHUSIASTIC,
ENERGETIC ENTERTAINERS
wanted to sing or play 2 musical
instrument at various North Shore
care facilities. If you have musical
talent and enjoy seniors come and
join the fun. Hours are flexible,
afternoon or evenings.

ENJOY GAMES? A friendly
and outgoing person is wanted to
assist a group of elderly gentlemen
with the game of carpet bowling
every Tuesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Training and orientation provided.

EMPATHETIC
COUNSELLORS wanted to pro-
vide support and encouragement to
people participating in a parenting

Fall programs
available

DELBROOK RECREATION
Centre has a festival of fall pro-
grams available.

The centre now runs children’s
programs, both preschool and
school age, during most scheduled
adult fitness program times.
Parents can exercise while their
children are looked after.

For those new to fitness,
Delbrook offers a new program,
called Milder than Mild, on Mon-
days, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9
a.m. In addition to being an in-
troduction to fitness classes, the
program also caters to those who
have such special needs as back or
knee problems or arthritis.

Kung Fu is offered at the begin-
ner/intermediate level on Tuesday
and Friday evenings.

Folk dancing is held Monday
evenings and residents are invited
to come out and join in an evening
of dancing and social fun.

career field. If you have good
listening skills and are interested in
the personal growth area, this
position will interest you. Times
are 14 to 2 hours per week plus
monthly meetings of two hours.

who enjoys working with seniors is
wanted to assist residents in and
out of vehicle and with wheelchairs
while on outings and shopping.
Orientation provided. Hours are
1:30 to 4 p.m. on Mondays and/or
Wednesdays.

FEMALE LEISURE BUDDY
wanted to accompany mentally
handicapped woman on weekly
walks. Volunteer should be 30 to
34 years of age and have an
understanding of the needs of the
mentally handicapped. Hours at
volunteer’s convenience.

course to be held at the Lucas
Centre, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m,,
which will help individuals choose
a volunteer position that can offer
training experience towards future
work or school and a sense of
community involvement.
