North Van chases federal economic funds

fund already budgeted for
economic development
studies.

As part of City’s
Planning Program,

economic studies are propos-
ed. They will investigate
public costs of various
municipal land uses, collect
an economic data base, and
study the implications of pro-
jected economic growth for
the City.

Since the City already an-
licipates a provincial plann-
ing grant of $10,000, the ad-
ditional federal funds would
enable an extension of these
studies.

Ald. Gary Payne noted
that this might enable the Ci-

ty of North Vancouver to
prepare its own economic
strategy in ‘‘a way similar 10
that of the GVRD.”’

Ald. Ralph Hall commend-
ed City staff for finding out
that the City is eligible for the
funding.
