. Parkinson considers the
break-in so uncanny that
he’s wondering whether he,
may have been gassed-by the
burglars.

“It’s very scarey,” he says.
“I'm a light sleeper and had
nothing to drink Friday night
or anything which would in-
duce a heavy sleep.”

But whereas he says the
sound of rainfall is usually
enough to wake him, he
slept through two alarms he
had set for 5 a.m., after the

burglary at his home at 1434
Mahon, in North Van-
couver.

He went to bed about 1:30
a.m. Saturday and didn’t
wake -until 7:15 a.m. Even
then, after making a pot of
coffee, he was so spacey he
did not even notice he had
been burgled until he was
leaving his home for work.

When he turned on his TV
set he merely thought the

The robbers, both armed

the pay-TV scrambler had
been stolen. Also gone was
his VHS video and his stereo
and headphones.

And the thieves obviously
hadn’t seen any need to
hurry. They had unscrewed
all the connections on the
stereo, rather than just cut-
ting wires.

Parkinson is so unnerved
by the experience that he has
spoken to his doctor, who is
now investigating with an
anaesthetist to check
whether the thieves might
have used some kind of gas
on the burglary victim to in-
duce such a heavy sleep.
