Cars broken into at bowling alley

A total of about 20 cars
were broken into’ while
parked outside the bowling

alley at Park Royal Friday
and Saturday evenings.
Thieves grabbed tape decks,

cameras, purses and other
valuables that had been left
in sight.

ITY PROTESTS “FACKY LITTLE NOTICE’

North Vancouver City
council is upset at an ad-
dition to this year’s
municipal tax form which
will inform residents how
much money the provincial
government has saved them.

And one alderman
suggested they should just
break the law and ignore the
regulation.

Alderman Frank Marcmo
introduced the subject at the
end of Monday night's
regular council meeting.

He told council that the
provincial government is
requiring that a statement be
added to the property tax
notices, informing people
how much their taxes would
have been increased if the
provincial government tax
sharing grant had not been in
effect.

City staff commented that
adding such a statement to
the form could cost the City
“several thousand dollars,” if
in fact it could be added to
the already crowded form at
all.

Alderman Gary Payne
referred to the required
Statement as “a tacky little
notice,” and other alderman
objected to giving the
provincial government free
publicity.

A motion to object to the
Minister of Municipal Af-
fairs about the new
regulation and to urge other
municipalities to do the
same was passed by council.

Boat operator impaired

The owner and manager
of the Pacific Marine
Towing Company has had
his boat operating privileges
suspended for three months
after pleading guilty to
operating a vessel, with a
blood alcohol level over .08.

Ronald Wilson, aged 47,
of 4025 St.Albans Avenue in
North Vancouver, appeared
in North Vancouver
Provincial Court, Wed-
nesday, after being charged
on May 11.

Crown Counsel Robert
Anderson said that Wilson
was charged after he was
seen navigating a boat into
the Mosquito Creek Marina
at a very rapid pace.

He said the RCMP were
called and Alderson was
tested and found to have a
blood alcohol level of .21.

Wilson's lawyer said the
reason the reading was so
high was that Wilson had
been drinking between the
time the boat was moored

Judge J.K. Shaw com-
