province, include three
members of the University of
--Washington’s School of
Music; Mary Curtis, Ver-
non, Voice and Choral; Bela
Siki, Piano and Toby Saks,
Strings and Ensembles. Dr.
Albert Shaw, ‘Western
Washington University, will
adjudicate Brass and

Woodwinds; Diane Schmidt -

from Seattle will choose the
accordion champions.

The actual competitions
will be held in Queens
Avenue United Church
’ Auditorium Friday - af-
ternoon, and evening June 8,
and all day and evening
Saturday, June 9. The public

is welcome to attend these
competitions; admission~:is ~~
$4.00 for a seasons ticket or”

$1.50 for. each session.
Tickets are available at the
door for all competitions.

Anyone wishing a com-
plete schedule of Festival
classes can call 464-4557 or
521-5586 for exact com-
petition times.

This year’s Provincial
Festival is hosted by
members of the Coquitlam
District Music Festival. It
will mark the first time this
senior competition has been
held in the Lower Mainland
outside of the Vancouver
area.

Along with the festival
classes, representatives from
the Festivals throughout the
province will meet for their
annual conference at the
Royal Towers Hotel,
Thursday, June 7.

This year’s Provincial
