Rusty Rustemeyer, chairman . the drive, explained that a completely modernized floor for children at Lions Gate Hospital cannot wait for Government funding. The Board.of Directors of the Hospital Society has begun the campaign which will continue until the goal of $300,000 has been reached. With these funds, the existing children’s floor, on ly designed in the will be completely modernized, Work on the children’ s ward project is planned to be done over the coming ‘summer when hospital occupancy is atits lowest. A tommittee of Board members, employees, medical staff and hospital has been working for months to redesign the children’s floor. New concepts in child treatment and a changing age group are among prime reasons to replace the outmoded floor. Parents of children at the hospital have been polled about desirable features they would like 'to see. One result is to provide space for parents who wish to stay overnight. Fund raising will be directed chiefly to the North Shore.
