APPLICATION FOR A PERMIT UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
THE WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT

THIS APPLICATION is to be filed with the Regional Waste Manager at 10470 - 152nd Street,

Surrey, 8.0. V3R O¥3.

“Any person who may be adversely affected by the discharge or storage of waste may within 30
days from the last date of posting under section 5 or publication, service cr display under
section 6 of the Public Notification Regulation, write to the manager stating how he/she is

affected.”

PREAMBLE — The purpose of this application is to discharge treated groundwater trom a site
remediation project in North Vancouver to Burrard Iniet.

4/We Imperial Oi! Limited and Oevon Estates Limited (Compagnie Petroliere Imperial Ltee. and
Les Immeubles Devon Ltee.) of 405 - 5945 Kathleen Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. VSH 47 hereby apply
for a permit to discharge effluent from a groundwater treatment plant located at the foot of
Gostick Place, North Vancouver to Burrard {niet (North Vancouver) and give notice of application

to all persons affected.

The land upon which the treatment works will be Iccated is Lot A O.L. 265 and 2654, Group 1,
NWO Plan 16779 and Lot 1 0.L 265 and 2654 Group 1 NWD Plan 8766.

The discharge will be located at the part of the bed of public harbour of Burrard Inlet fronting
Lot 2, O.L. 265 and 2654 Group 1 NWD Plan 8766.

The rate of discharge will be:

Maximum Daily: 2,300 cubic metresiday

Average Oaity (based on operating period): 1,450 cubic metres/day

The operating period during which the effluent witl be discharged is May, 1, 2000 to

December 31, 2010 (estimated).
The characteristics of the effiuent discharged shall be equivalent to or better than:

Total Susperded Sofds: 10 mg/L

Biochemical Oxygen demand: not applicable

Temperature: 20°C
pH: 6.5 to 8.1

Fecal Coliform: not applicable

Benzene: 15 ug/L

Mineral Oil & Greases: 10 mo/L
The type of treatment to be applied is flow equalization, cnemical addition, induced gas
(GAC)
