The same year, Lindsay and his camera were up Grouse Mountain nearly every day recording the con- struction of the Grouse Mountain Chalet and the Scenic Highway. In 1927, already a member of the B.C. Mountaineering Club, he organized the Grouse Mountain Ski Club. Many of the pho- tegraphs of the con- struction activities are now in the Archives’ col- lection, along with images of skiing and hiking that Lindsay took during the ’20s and ’30s. The program’s purpose is the recognize district youth berveen the ages of 12-19 for the noteworthy achieve- ments and contributions they make to the community. There are two award cate- gories: the Certificate of Achievement and the Certificate of Community Service. The = Certificate of Achievement recognizes youth that have demonstrat- ed outstanding achievement in some particular endeav- our, including tiose who exhibit exceptional progress and commitment to personal improvement. The = Certificate of Community Service recog- nizes youth that have made significant contributions to the community on a volun- tary basis while working with a volunteer organization. Award candidates may be nominated by District resi- dents, non-profit agencies, groups and businesses.
