The North Vancouver Parent Advisory Council, as a Participant in Education Week, has engaged Johnay Lake, trom Salem, Oregon for a number of events on Thursday, Mar. 4. Lake is an award-winning keynote speaker with a dynamic, motivational and international reputation. His focus this week is diversity. On the morning of Mar. 4, Lake will speak to students at Queen Mary and Lonsdale elementary schools with his story telling, encouraging them to celebrate their unique- ness. In the afternoon of Mar. 4, student representatives from each of North Vancouver's secondary schools will take a leadership workshop under the direction of Lake. Recently awarded for his contributions in his work with children and the community, organizers expect the stu- dents to find their encounters with Lake to be memorable learning experiences. On Mar. 4 at 7:30 p.m., at the Lucas Centre, 2132 Hamilton Ave., N.V., Lake will make his feature presenta- tion co parents, educators and all interested community members. His topic of Diversity —~ maximizing its potential and the demands of a changing society —~ is a valuable and important area for discussion in the North Shore’s multi- cultural community and beyond.
