Meredith elecied to head
W. Van-Garibaldi Reform

CAROLINE Meredith was recently
elected president of the West
Vancouver-Garibaldi Reform Party
of B.C. Constituency Association.

She was chosen by the party's directors on
Nov, 7.

Meredith ran for the B.C Reform Party in
the North Vancouver-Seymour riding in the
provincial election this year,

She was defeated by incumbent Liberal
MLA Daniel Jarvis.

Meredith said that she plans to carry on in
her support of the B. C. Reform Party policies
concerning direct democracy and fiscal respon-

sibility.

Meredith said she is encouraged by the
growing support for B.C. Reform on the
North Shore.

The B.C. Reform © Provincial
General meeting, was held in Langley.

A successor to party leader Jack Weisgerber
will be chosen next year.

Meredith said she would not join any party
headed by Liberal opposition leader Gordon

Campbell, but Campbell “won't be there for-
ever,”

War sacrifice recognized with naming of lake

A West Vancouver man who
died in the Second World War
was recently honored with the
naming of a fake after him.
Richard Morris Bell-Irving,
was a RCNVR Lieutenant
Engineer when he died

Since the early 1950s,
about 900 British Columbians
who died in the Second World
War have been commemorat-
ed by having their names

given to unnamed _ lakes,
mountains, creeks and ridges
in the province. More than
3,700 British Columbians
died in active duty during the
Second World War.
