Veterans

VETERANS OF the Royal Canadian
Navy and Merchant Seamen are hon-
oring the 50th anniversary of the
Battle of the Atlantic with a parade in
North Vancouver this Sunday.

The parade is set to form at the
foot of Chesterfield Avenue in North
Vancouver at 10 a.m. on Sunday,
May 7. At 11 a.m., the veterans will
meet at Sailor's Point, just west of the
SeaBus Terminal on the North Shore
waterfront.

“The Battle of the Atlantic was the
dominating factor all through the

war,’ wrote Winston Churchill.
“Never for one moment could we for-
get that everything happening else-
where depended ultimately on its out-
come.”

Canadian convoys transported
181 million tons of wartime materials
and supplies. In all, 819 ships were
sunk crossing the Atlantic.

Parade participants will include
the Navy Veterans Band, the Sead
Cadet’ Band, and reserves from
H.M.CSS. Discovery.

Nozzolio recently told reporters: that
the stale spends $700,000 a year on
estrogen for its 87 male prison
inmates who want to become female.

Parachute Club recently won a law-
suit against the estate of a deceased
member for damaging its airplane.

The woman was accidentally
killed when she fell into the airplane's
moving propeller.

And in August, the federal Board
of Veterans’ Appeals granted a wife’s
application to receive survivors’ ben-
efits because her husband died of
“service-related” injuries, Actually,
the wife had shot the husband to
death during an altercation, but she
successfully claimed that previous
military stress had caused him to start
the altercation.
