Friday, February 14, 1992 - North Shore News - 33 oS Photo submitted LONGER, WIDER and roomier than previous models, the '92 Cadillac Seville has a new European-styled interior and handsome, new exterior styling. The five- passenger, front-wheel-drive Seville sedan and Seville Touring Sedan offer improved handling and ride, more interior room, and a 200-horsepower V8 engine and four-speed automatic transmission. IN CONTRAST to many traditional American luxury cars, the new Cadillac Seville is not available with chromed wire-wheel hub- caps, a vinyl roof, pleated, velour upholstery, or a ride reminiscent of the Queen Mary. The Seville is an altogether dif- ferent type of Cadillac, one that Cadillac Seville Different type of luxury car shows European influences combines a luxurious ride with capable handling, and handsome, unique styling with a functionai, attractive interior. In my opinion, this is a change that's long over- due, and one that represents a significant change in direction for Cadillac. With its aggressive, clean, crisp styling and real aluminum alloy 16-inch wheels, the Seville has a powerful yet understated presence. Noteworthy styling features in- clude Cadillac’s trademark ‘‘egg- crate’’ grille with the traditional wreath and crest symbol mounted in the centre (STS only), steeply raked front and rear windows, and a rear high-mounted stop- light that extends the full width of the trunk. The four-door, five-passenger front-wheel-drive Seville is avail- able in base Seville and STS (Seville Touring Sedan) models. The former is more traditional in appearance with a chrome grille, electronic digital instrumentation, column shifter and cloth interior. The STS has more of a Euro- pean flair, with a body-colored grille, front fog lamps, standard Price as tested $49,368 Base price $45,288 Type four-door, five-passenger sedan Layout transverse engine/front wheel drive Engine 4,894 ce (300 .in.) The new Seville is 356 mm (14 in.) longer and 6!) mm (2.4 in.) wider than the °91 model, pro- viding a much roomier interior, particularly in the rear seat area. Headroom and legroom are gen- erous in both the front and rear. In addition, the seat angle of the rear seats has been increased to 27 degrees for a more comfort- able seating position. However, rear seating capacity on the STS model is compromised by a raised hump in the middle of the bench seat, making this more of a four-seater than a five- seater. The interior is a harmonious blend of colors, surfaces and con- trols looking very much like some Audi and Mercedes Benz models.
