Hockey will be in the air this week as NSWC hosts the 29th annual Fred Page Midget ‘‘AAA”’ hockey tournament, Dec. 27-30. Spectators welcome. NSWC hosts tourney THE NORTH Shore Winter Club is pearing up to host the 29th an- nual Fred Page Midget ‘“‘AAA”’ hockey tournament within two days time. . The tournament, which runs Dec. 27-30, will feature 16 teams in three divisions including teams from Chilliwack, Nanaimo, Langley, Portland, Coquitlam, Victoria, Cowichan Valley, Bur- naby, Ridge Meadows, Comox, Seattle, North Delta, Vancouver and Alaska. The tournament is named after Fred Page, a Canadian dedicated to hockey. Page played minor hockey for the Port ‘Arthur Midget, Junior and Intermediate Association. In . the early ‘40s Page began his coaching and refereeing career. RR ey Since then, Page’s achievements included president of the Cana- dian Amateur Hockey Association- and a role in organizing the Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France and Sapporo, Japan. After moving to the West Coast, Page became a member of the North Shore Winter Club. He also got involved in the B.C. Am- ateur Hockey Association where he eventually became president. Spectators are welcome to at- tend the Fred Page Midget “SAAA'’ hockey tournament. Games begin early on Dec. 27 and continue through to Dec. 29.
