Last Juiy, Smith resigned from cabinet during a messy scandal associated with the Biil Reid lottery grant affair. A DAY IN COURT THE FOLLOWING people ap- peared in North Vancouver and West Vancouver provincial courts recently to face various charges. Before Judge G.R. Sutherland in North Vancouver provincial court on Dec. 14: Steven Thomas Fleck was fined $500 and had his driver’s licence suspended for 12 months after the 25-year-old North Vancouver man pleaded guilty to driving May 23 on Main Street while he was pro- hibited from doing so. Before Judge J.L. McCarthy in North Vancouver provincial court- on Dec. 13: Jason Whare Davis was put on probation for 12 months and fin- ed $350 after the 22-year-old North Vancouver man_ pleaded guilty to assaulting a man on Aug. 2. As terms of probation, Davis was ordered to complete 33 hours of community work service and to have no contact with the victim for the first six months of proba- tion. Before Judge P. Maughan in Nozth Vancouver provincial court on Dec. 7: Darren Todd Andall received a suspended sentence and was put on probation for six months after the 24-year-old North Vancouver man was found guilty of assaulting a woman in connection with an Oct. 13 incident. As terms of his probation, An- dall was ordered to undertake an anger management program and to have no contact with the vic- lira. Before Judge R.D. Grandison in West Vancouver provincial court on Dec. 5: Sherry Angeline Freethy and Jennifer Anne Clausen received a conditional discharge after the North Vancouver women, both 20, pleaded guilty to theft under $1,000 from Hudson's Bay on Oct. 20. Freethy and Clausen were also put on probation for six months. Before Judge R.D. Grandison in West Vancouver provincial court on Dec. 3; David Collins was fined $300 after the 46-year-old Burnaby man pleaded guilly to being in posses- sion of a stolen insurance decal on Roshen Alimoham Damgi was fined $500 and put on probation for six months after the 55-year- old North Vancouver woman pleaded guilty to theft of a purse on Oct. 6 from Hudson’s Bay. eee Simon Chan received a condi- tional discharge and was put on probation for eight months after the 35-year-old Burnaby man pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman June 2. een Brian Crawford was sentenced to one day in jail after the 22- year-old Burnaby man was found guilty of failing to appear for a court date on Feb. 27. Grandison in West Vancouver provincial court on Novy. 26: Michael Anthony Homes was fined a total af $2,300 after the 22-year-old Surrey man pleaded guilty to impersonating someone in order to obsain four tires and rims on March 3, b988. Homes also pleaded guilty to stealing a B.C. licence plate from Diamond Building Maintenance on the same day.
