By all appearances, Capilanos should have been capable of win- ning this contest with relative ease but poor goal kicking made for a close and exciting game. _ Most of the scoring occurred in the first-half when scram half Ross Miles scored two tries for the locals, one of which was converted by Clayton Wick. Ex-Britannia also tallied 10 points with two tries and a convert. Most of the Capilanos players performed well including Doug Speranza who had played the previous day on the victorious B.C. President’s XV against the Japanesi: national team at Brockton Oval. The game was finally won by a penalty goal kicked by Gien Audet with 15 sninutes remaining to play. This was followed by intensive pressure by Ex-Britannia during which referee Dave Burns did well to keep control of the game. Capilanos withstood several do- or-die rushes end kepi their line in- tact with bone crushing tackling. Other weekend rugby action had the Capilanos Seconds tie the Ex- Britannia Seconds, the Kats Thirds shut out Capilanos Thirds 14-0, and the Ex-Britannia Feurths— down the Capilanos Fourths 25-4.
