SPORTS Otter swimmers record top times THE WEST Vancouver Otters got the season off to a racing start recently with swimmers recording top times in the first Lower Mainfand regional meet of the winter. In the under-12 division, top performances were recorded by Amietle Lake with three second- place ribbons, Sara Cullen with a number of fourth spots, Lara Ng with two thirds and a_ second, Alexa Vonfersen with a third and two fifths, and Clare Etlet with a fifth. A best time in the under-12 girls was recorded by Erin Chapman in 50-metre backstroke. The 12-and-over girls also put on a good performance, with best showings from Ceroline Watt with two firsts, Sara Stephenson with a first and two thirds and Misti Hurst vith a second and third. Kirsten Taberner was third in her race, Sally Tanaka was second, fourth and fifth, Andrea Bell was sixth in two races, while Alexandra Howard’s best was a second and third. Tara McKay had two thirds and a fourth. Kathryn Pellett was second, fourth and fifth in her races, while Clare Matthews was third in hers. Best times were recorded by Marnia Dejandomenico, Nadine Robinson, Deborah Watt and Fiona Spence. The West Vancouver Otters boys swimmers also racked up some top performances at this meet. The 12-and-under boys perfor- mances came from Jake Russeli with a first and third, Colby Bell with a fourth and fifth, Sven Vonfersen, Steven Marshall with two thirds and a fourth and Jason Chih with a sixth. Chris Sunday and Eric Angeward had best times in several events. Turning in equally good per- formance with best times in many events were the 12-and-under boys. Included in these were Peter Mura, Brett Creed, Steven Roka and Lief Sverre. The club is a competitive and recreational group for swimmers six years and older, up to and in- cluding high school.
