N. Shore needs umpires |

THE 1988 softball scason is just around the corner
and the North Share i is in desperate need of qualified
umpires.

“In! preparation for the upcoming campaign, “the
Metro Softball Umpires’ Association is currently
conducting a recruiting and instructional campaign
aimed at increasing the quantity and quality of of-
_ficials in this area. .

Officiating slo-pitch icagues and tournaments all
over the Lower Mainland, the association affords an
excellent opportunity for inen, women and students

Organizational mectings are already underway and
instructional classes begin in carly March and will
continue for approximately five weeks.

League schedules’ commence around the ‘end of

. April and continue until August.

Umpires will receive training in mechanics, posi-
tioning and rule interpretations and knowledge of
both fast and slo-pitch softball.
