Local crossword game en-
thusiasts will have a chance to test
their skills as Vancouver has been
selected as one of the 80 cities in
the U.S. and Canada to host Step I
competition.

An estimated 10,000 players will
participate across the continent for
the opportunity to be among the
300 finalists who will attend a
four-day championship at San

The Vancouver qualifying round

of Coleco Industries, Inc., manu-
facturers of the classic board gaine
and by local Scrabble players Club
No. 177.

Contestants will play four games
cach with those winning two or
more rounds eligible to advance to
the national semi-finals which will
be held during March and April.

levels can compete by sending a $5
registration fee to local tourna-
