Four NSWC ringette wins NORTH SHORE Winter Club ringette teams warmed up for the provincial A-level championships they'll host later this month by winning four of five weekend games. The Petite B Superstars led the way, downing Delta 8-5 on the strength of good performances from Nikol Hetherington, Jenny MacLean, Jessica Crawshaw and Jenny MacDonald. The Petite As also tasted victory with their 8-3 victory over’ Port Coquitlam while the Belles toppled Langley 6-2 and then dumped the Port Coquitlam Junior Belle team 8-3 in exhibition play. The Tween Bs, mean- while, were defeated by the North West Van side in their match. North Shore Winter Club will host the Provincial A Ringette tournament March 14 to 17, the largest ringette tournament in the province. | British swimmers A PAIR of ‘North Shore teenagers are back from. swimming competition in Europe and. England with new medals to add-to their trophy cases. Kevin Draxinger, 17, and 15-year-old Sarah Frisby, won the right to travel with Canadian international swim teams by finishing in the top eight at the recent Canadian national swimming champi- onships. Draxinger, travelling with the Canadian nationz] mens team, competed in West and East Germany and at the British short course na- tionals in London. He placed sixth in the 200 metre breaststroke and 10th in the 100 metre breaststroke events in Bonn, swam per- sonal bests in those events at the East German meet against some of the world’s top swimmers and then scored a bronze medal in the 100 metre backstroke at the British championships. He just missed a second medal when he finished fourth in the 200 metre event. Frisby was selected to a seven-member B.C, Canada Games team, coached by North Vancouver's Jan Henderson, which also competed in London. Frisby acquitted herself well in the pool, picking up a silver in the 400 metre freestyle and bronze in the 800 meire freestyle as well as recording several personal bests.
