Hospitals Under The Knife

Over the buoyant years, we have come to look upon
readily-available health care and the whole gamut of hospital
services as a right, not something we have to budget, and pay,
for. Now, under the somber pressures of recession and
inflation, our provincial. government is asking hospitals to act
as though they were something they have never been—
businesses. Meanwhile, staff cuts and bed closures will
increase, and the lines for elective surgery could stretch from
months to years.
