.C. fuel tax

rates change

- effect Jan. 1, 1989.

CHANGES IN provincial tax rates
on petroleum fuels, effective Oct.
1, were announced recently by Fi-
nance and Corporate Relations
Minister Mel Couvelier.

The changes result from index-
ing of provincial tax rates for pet-
roleum products.

The indexing formulas were in-
troduced in the March 1981! pro-
vincial budget and are based on the
gasoline component of the Van-
couver Consumer Price Index.

Handicapped persons who qual-
ify will continue to receive a re-
fund of the full amount of tax paid
on gasoline and diesel fuel.

The next quarterly review of
provincial fuel tax rates will take

There are no changes in the rates
for marine bunker fuel, natural gas
or British Columbia transit tax.
