List targets WV sewage By Robert Galster News Reporter robert@nsnews.com TWO North Shore operations have been cited in a recent environmental protection noncompliance report. West Vancouver’s Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District site and North Vancouver’s Mt. Seymour Resorts Ltd. were both mentioned. “Publicly releasing this report is one of the most effective means we have to get operations and individuals to adhere to B.C.’s environmen- tal protection laws,” said B.C.’s Environment, Lands and Parks Minister Cathy McGregor. “No one likes to see their name in the paper for some- thing as serious as harming the environment.” The latest report covered the period between Oct. 1, 1996 to March 31, 1997. West Vancouver's sewage operation was men- tioned for the tenth time. The facility was cited for exceeding the permit limit for effluent dis- charge rate during 89% of the report period. Mt. Seymour Resorts Ltd. was cited in the report for the sixth time. The facility exceeded the permit limit for effluent discharge rate 13 out of 30 times and failed to submit effluent quality data three out of five times required.
