Housing construction
up across North Shore

RISING NORTH Shore housing
starts bucked a falling trend in most
areas of the Lower Mainiand in the
first quarter of 1995.

Statistics released by the Greater
Vancouver Regional District show
housing starts across the area lagged
23% behind starts in the first quarter
of 1994,

But North Vancouver City and
District and West Vancouver starts
rose. In the first three months of this
year, North Vancouver City record-
ed 96 housing starts, up from 1994's

GS starts.

fn the district, 1995's 59 housing
saris were up nearly SOG over the
33 recorded in 1004,

in West Vancouver, housing
starts rose to $1 from 47 in 1994,

AML three municipalities’ 1995
figures, however, lagged behind
housing starts for the first quarter
for 1993.

The two-year-old numbers were
111 starts for North Vancouver City,
75 for North Vancouver District and
76 for West Vancouver.
