would be a boost to customer ser-
vice.

Brokers have been handling
about 95% of licence plate trans-
actions for years. The transfer
under way now will see brokers
delivering most of the remaining
services.

With the number of brokers
open evenings and weekends, the
transfer makes it much more con-
venient’ for motorists needing
some of these special services.

Messmer, minister responsible
for both the Motor Vehicle
Branch and ICBC, noted there
will be a transition period through
to Oct. 19 in which motorists can
go to either their moter licence
office or an Autoplan broker for
these services. Only brokers wiil
handle them after Oct. 19.

sonalized number (vanity) plate
can fill cut an application at their

obvious restrictions on the type of
message that can be put on a
plate.

You can pick up ham radio ap-
plications from brokers, bur they
will still be reviewed by the Fed-
eral Department of Communica-
tions.

Autoplan brokers can now pro-
cess most registrations. These in-
clude out-of-province vehicles,
new and used vehicles, rebuilds or
u-builds, changes to color or body
style plus snow vehicles licensed
for use on the road.

Brokers can also handle sacial
service tax exemptions and a
variety of transfers relating to
estates, Canada Customs or
Sheriff seizures, bankruptcy or
receivership and vehicles sold by
Crown Assets.

You will still deal with motor
licence offices for all issues con-
cerning vintage and collector vehi-
