Development's (IED) proposal of a condominium project at Fisherman's Cove is a well-thought-out concept that deserves consideration. The company’s latest attempt at persuading West Vancouver Council to rezone part of the site to resi- dential use is its most desirable offer to date. Limiting the development to a four-storey condo with few suites and the company’s proposal of renovating the existing boat yard is reason enough to consider accepting the rezone bid. TLD's offer to set] almost 90 per cent of its Fisherman's Cove property to council for $1, however, is the best reason yet for permitting development, for the public will finally own the prime waterfront prop- erty. There is plenty of opposition to the condominium proposal. A Save Fisherman’s Cove Committee ts rallying support to stop development, The committee claims the development will change the natural beauty of the area and public marina facilities will be lost. Yet the development will do nothing of the sort. The character of the cove will certainly change but clearly for the better, especially because of the redeveloped marina. The condos, while adding an ex- tra element to the cove, are unobtrusive and should not mar the landscape. Furthermore, the cove moorage facilities will be retained and indeed upgraded. If the development goes through, however, council must ensure public access to the foreshore is preserved. This is the only element that could) spoil a fine redevelopment proposal — and a rare opportunity to upgrade Fisherman's Cove, SUMDAY + 1139 Lonsdale Ave. ey a em ge ne ae : North Vancouver, B.C. One more wacky way to instant wealth! WANNA GET RICH QUICK? The latest do-it-yourself mil- lionaire’s kit landed through my mail slot last week from a Burnaby Jady I’d never heard of. You too could be getting one sooner or later. The plan is an ingenious twist on the chain fetter, which is iegal in Canada, but its inventor, Edward L. Green of Oklahoma, claims his own brainchild is completely legal. More on that later. The kit includes a list of four **concise one and two-page reports’? — (1) HOW TO MAKE $250,000 THROUGH MULTI- LEVEL MAIL ORDER, (2) MA- JOR CORPORATION AND MULTI-LEVEL SALES, (3) SOURCES FOR THE BEST MAILING LISTS AND (4) EVALUATING MULTI-LEVEL SALES PLANS — each showing the name and address of the per- son from whom to order it, at $5 per report. So you send for a copy of each, enclosing $5 apiece. Then, you change the ordering list in the instructions package by moving the top three names down to Reports (2), 3) and (4), putting your own name under Report (1) and dropp- ing the bottom: name altogether. Stage three is to reproduce as many copies of the reports and revised instructions as you wish at the local quick-print shop, compile a mailing list (anybody, anywhere) and mail them the revised instruc- tions package. Then, in theory, you sit back and wait for the $5 orders for Report (1) to flood in, a process repeated three times, of course, as others climb on the bandwagon and move your name down to Reports (2), (3) and (4) before finally dropping is off. Your ‘‘investment’’, based on a minimum. wiltta! mailing of 200, comes to $20 for copies of the four reports ind around $140 for envelopes, stamps and printing the instruction packages. Plus, you’ll need an is itial supply of at feast Report (1) — at six to eight cents a copy — to ‘il the first orders, For this, the testimonials suggest you can make tens of thousands of dollars within weeks, even on a mere five to ten per cent response.
