Comprised entirely of volunteers from member organizations, the Alliance acts as a lobbying group for the many theatre eet erty s VIM apese a eee companies in the city, com- mitted to promoting the continued growth of the thriving Vancouver theatre community. The Jessie Awards, named in honour of the late Jessie Richardson for her dedicated work in theatre, is just one of the yearly projects which the Alliance undertakes in its | efforts to promote and cele- brate the healthy artistic scene in Vancouver theatre. As Canada does not at the present have national awards in the theatre, the Jessie Awards is a public acknowl- edgement of the fine talent Vancouver . theatre is so lucky to have. The Alliance takes’ this opportunity to share with the theatre au- dience their pride in the ex- cellent work done by the numerous professionais in the city’s theatre communi- ty.
