Built in Montreal, by Montreal
Locomotive Works, it was delivered
to the Pacific Great Eastern Railway
in Squamish in 1951.

- Tt was the first diesel road loco-
motive on the Pacific Great Eastern
(PGE) ‘railway and operated all
across the line from Squamish to
Quesnel hauling passenger and.
freight cars. :
Over the years it was repainted
_ Several times but now it has been
returned to its original colors of

tion thanks to a joint restoration pro-

It is the regular operating locomotive

for the park, and has subsequently

hauled in the whole collection and

moved the other locomotives, pas-

senger cars. and freight cars, around .

on their site.

Although the park closed on Oct.
30 after a very successful first sum-
mer of operation, it will re-open May
!, and you'll be able to see this
impressive locomotive and the sever-
al other engines, passenger cars, and
“freight cars in their collection.

Meanwhile, for the railway
enthusiasts, there is a lecture being
given at Capifano Coliege. Cu-spon-
sored by the North Vancouver
Museum and Eldercollege, the
speaker will’ discuss British
Columbia's railways. ;

It will include the Canadian
Pacific Railway, the Kettle Valley
Line, the Esquimalt and Nanaimo,
the PGE, and the Canadian National
Railway. -

The speaker, Robert Turner,
author and curator emeritus of the
Royal B.C. Muscum, will be dis-
cussing these railways, and wilt uk
