Pageant seeks beauties

GIVEN ITS Pacific Rim ties, it is
only natural that) Vancouver
should host the Miss North
America Beauty Pageant to select
Miss North America Canada and
Miss North America USA.

The Canadian winner will enter
the Miss Asia Pacific Quest Pag-
vant in Hong Kong later this year.

Modelling agencies from across
Canada and the United States have
been invited to hold in-house
competitions to select a contestant
to travel to Vancouver. Other pag-
eant winners meeting contest re-
quirements may be considered for
entry by contacting Joanna

Claydon at 682-1300.

Any American or Canadian
woman between the ages of 18 and
24; at least five feet four inches in
height; single, never having been
married; never having given birth;
high school graduate or the
equivalent in her country; and free
to travel during the term of her
reign may call Joanna to discuss
the entry procedure.

Final judging for the pageant
will take place at a gala pageant
dinner-dance to be held at the
Hyatt Regency Hotel, Thursday,
Angust 20. The judges will select a
wiiner [rom each country who will
receive a cash prize of US $5,000.
