This year, the theme is “Follow the Rainbow.” According to the Parade Marshal, John Peirson, “there are already 35 entries to date and the parade pro- mises to be bigger and better than ever.” Two exciting new entrants are the North Vancouver Youth Band and the North Shore Suzuki School. Mayor Derrek Hum- phreys will enter the parade in a 1935 Bentley Converti- ble. Prizes to the West Van- couver school entries. will be awarded by the West Van- couver Rotary Club. Many interesting events will take place at the West Van Recreation Centre, 780- 22nd Street from noon till 4 p-m. In the studio, you can take part in hat making, wood crafts or if you are ecologically minded, try your hand at creating a masterpicce from interesting recycled materials. The Cypress Room will be transformed into a “Penny Carnival” to offer a variety of imaginative activities in- cluding the bean bag throw, balloon bursting, fishing for a button and extinguishing candice flames with squirt guns. On the stage will be puppet shows presented by West Vancouver Library. In the hallway by the Cypress Room, children can design their own buttons and use the machine to make onc.
