Jam writing to you in regard to
your columnist Doug Collins,

In this age of political correct-
ness atnd inereasing controls on
the thoughts and opinions of the
media, it is extremely heartening
to know that there is still a news-
paper in Vancouver that has the
couruge fo have true editorial
balance.

The two daily newspapers have
become so full of one-sided, pre-

dictable rubbish that it sickens ne
to even glance at the editorial

Collins may use a bit too much

Instead of debating him openly

assertions, he is attacked because
it just isn't tolerated by the so-

} really cannot agree with Doug
Collins that Rafe Mair is a
faint-hearted gasbag. ;

Rafe consistently stands up to
the best of them, and the worst of.
them, on our behalf. He faces
both capitals, east and west, and
usually makes a lot of sense. We
need him.

On the other hand, we also
need Doug Collins.

Though he is heavy-handed, |
have concluded his shock(ing) tac-
tics are calculated and applied
simply to make us think. Without
them Doug. would’ stir no con-
troversy and have no adversaries
(and far, far fewer readers).

Whether they like each other or
not, or whether we agree with
theni, -they are both important
