The popular showcase also features more than 100 commercial displays, where showgoers can browse and buy. Sayers, whose credentials include a longtime connection with the Vancouver Museum, has put together a fascinating two-hour presentation that traces women's evolution from the totally depen- dent creatures of the late i8th cen- tury to the — free-spirited independent women of today. The fashion show, which is being presented ar 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13, offers both a unique history lesson, and a rare opportunity for home sewers to take a close look at the flam- boyant, exquisitely made clothes of the past. This year’s edition of In Stitches, offers more than 50 seminars on sewing, wearable art, craft, knit- ting, needlework, and home decorating. Other topics include: innovative serging, dollmaking, creative quilting, fabric marbleiz- ing, machine knitting and Chinese knotting. Most seminars are one hour in length, with a 15 minute break in between, and they give showcase patrons a golden opportunity to learn from some of North America's most accomplished sew- ing and craft experts. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. all three days. Basic showcase admission is $5 with a special $3 rate for seniors on Thurs- day and Friday. Mini passes (2 seminars, one day's entry) cost $25, and priortiy passes (5 seminars, 3 days’ entry) are $55. Extra seminars for pass holders on- ly, are $11 each.
