Canada Post council
chairman appointed

Services Customer Council has
elected Kelowna businessman
Gerry Frederick as its first chair-
man. Frederick is manager of the
Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.

Nine regional Postal Services
Customer Councils operate in
Canada, after their establishment
was recommended to the House of
Commons in the summer of 1988
as part of Bill C-149.

Although Parliament dissolved
before this bill could be enacted, it
is the guideline for the Council’s
mandate pending enactment of the
legislation. Membership is made

nitrogen oxides and_ volatile
organic compounds (hydrocar-
bons).

But the decrease in regional
emissions to 1995 could te partial-
ly offset by increases in vehicle
travel and regional growth in the
years to 2005. Unless new controls
are implemented, significant in-
creases in suspended particulate
and sulphur oxides are likely.

tion of an Air Managemert Plan
for the district is to addvess the
issues identified in stage one and
identify actions that can be taken
to ensure that the district enioys
good air in future years.

The plan is likely to recommend
improved emission control
technologies and better link air
quality and transportation plan-
