At some time or another,

isolated from the outside

world as some of the
residents at Lions Gate
Hospital's Extended Care

Unit, Evergreen House. .

The unit once again is
looking for people to swell
the numbers in its “Special
Volunteer Visitor” program.
In effect now for six years,
the program has. been
designed to bring intimacy
and warmth on a “one-to-
one” basis to the extended
care residents.

Some people who make
their home in this unit have
lived there for over five
years. They feel isolated
from the world outside, their
community and their
neighbors. A number have
very few visitors, and some
have no visitors at all.

The search is on for warm,
enthusiastic people who are

willing to give a small por-
tion of their time each week
to be a friend to a resident in
the Extended Care Unit.
People who enjoy talking to
others, reminiscing old
times, reading’ the
newspapers, writing letters,
sharing hobbies, would be
very good special
volunteers. Caring about
people is the only special
skill required.

A basic five-week orienta-
tion course will be given to
the volunteers at Lions Gate
Hospital, Extended Care.
Unit Boardroom: (basement
level) on Tvetday,
September 20 and each of
the four following Tuesdays
through October 18 from 7
to 9 p.m. on each occasion.
