Researchers have been able to identify various levels of consciousness by changes in electrical activity of the brain or brain waves. These changes may be recorded and measured by — the electro-encephalograph. This machine can detect the electrical currents ‘within the brain by means of wires placed on the scalp. Dreams may occur at any time of the night, but the lighter sleep just before waking seems to favor not only dreaming, but remembering dreams.
