His first hit “Oh Carofina” (legend has it he still had his Oesert Storm uniform on white recording the vocals) went number one wortdwide thanks to the Boombastic lover's crossover appeal. For his new CD Hotshot Shaggy has enlisted producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to a-1d their magic to the mix. The combination succeeds handsomely on the club hit “Dance & Shout" with the rest of the album working hard to maintain the groove. He was born in West Vancouver where he has been a firefighter for over 20 years. Penhall’s formal art training includes a two-year art program at Cantine College and courses in watercolour, oil painting ~ and lithography from Emily Cart Institute of ‘Art and Design. Penhail’s art is inspired by the landscape. His work seeks to - encompass natural forms. Inspired by the unknown, Penhall was drawn to Carisbrooke Park. “I chose Carisbrooke Park because I had never been there before. [ loved the fact that it is on a hill. I love views where you are looking up or down and the park is very undulating and rolling. Its really about where the light is going and how the park has been laid out. ’'m always trying to lead the eve through the work, We seem to. -. walk through things without really noticing them, When I find, myself surrounded by inspiration in the world, it is often sud- den and instinctual. What fallows is a methodical need and sin- cere examination of how it effects the world within me. I try to | capture the ordinary and make it a little extraordinary. Tay to get people to look at things differently.” The park, originally called Lonsdale Park in the District of. North Vancouver, was a feature of North Lonsdale as carly as: 1912. Because of its close access to the terminus of the B.C.’ Electric Street Railway Company’s Lonsdale line, the park was. considered by many to be the starting point for hiking and ski-. ing tips, especially up Grouse Mountain. The neighborhood around Lonsdale Park became a highly desirable residential - : ‘area, and many of North Vancouver's heritage homes still stan Penhall’s print along with those, by other Visions of the =!
