tawa would be okay. To
make it in Toronto was the
ultimate, though.

It was only the romantics,
the banana-belters, as we
were called, who longed for
the West Coast instead. A

career on the West Coast?”

Forget it. You guys wanna
flop around on the beach all
day, right?

The Coast, most of you
will realize, is viewed from
eastern, vantage points in
Canada as a place for the
most part that you might get
to go to when you die, a
cross between Valhalla and
Babylon North. In any
event, it is just not quite part
of the real world.

That's okay. If they ever
figured out what they were
missing, they’d inundate us,
poor creatures. Imagine
spending more than half
your life walking around
with ear muffs and. galoshes
‘on! P-U-R-G-A-T-O-R-Y.

Yet just because they suf-

Squadron when she noticed

Howe Sound. The men, both
from Burnaby had been fish-
ing when their 12-foot boat

don’t really work very hard
at all. Their pace, to be more
specific, is scarcely a beat
ahead of work-to-rule. They

‘have security galore, I guess,

but, boy, are they ever bor-
ing to listen to!

They gossip. They smoke
cigarettes. They drink hard
liquor. They mess around
with each other's wives and
vice versa, They even have
fist fights at office parties.
Not all, heaven knows!
There are a few who aren't
neurotic, and even a couple
of saints. Bu: for the most ;
part.....

The bottom line is that

drop off sharply. It’s so easy
for them to. forget you exist.
