INAUGURAL First Night on the North Shore is in need of vol- unteers for a gala New Year’s Eve celebration. Join the fun times and participate in this exciting family event on Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. to midnight. People are needed to sell tickets and buttons, to be ushers, and for crowd con- trol. A party for all volunteers will be held in January. BLOOD Drop. This is a fun opportunity for someone who en- joys talking to the public and wearing costumes. A person is wanted to wear a Blood Drop costume and help promote donor blood clinics. The volunteer will give information about blood clinics at LGH to disembarking SeaBus passengers. Teens! bring a friend and have some fun. Hours are 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday once a month. ENJOY teenagers? A woman over 19 years is wanted to orga- nize candy stripers. Duties in- WV names arts administrator LYNN FLIPSE has been ap- pointed the West Vancouver Community Arts Council’s new arts administrator. Flipse is past president of the arts council. She takes over as arts administrator on Dec. 15, replac- ing Ilene Pevec. This spring, the West Van- couver Community Arts Council will relocate to 1570 Argyle. One of Flipse’s first projects at the council's new home will be to or- ganize a poetry reading by Cana- dian poet P.K. Page, in conjunc- tion with West Vancouver Memo- rial Library, as part of National Book Week. The reading will be held April 27 at 2 p.m. Seymour dancers perform Nutcracker THE SEYMOUR Heights Dance Society is‘ presenting a traditional Christmas ballet this year with the classic Nutcracker. There will be two shows, at 6 and 7:30 p.m., at Centennial Theatre on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The Dance Society is a non- profit organization formed by teachers and parents. This year’s presentation has raised over $2,000 to date in scholarship funds for the society. There are still tickets available for the 6 p.m. show.
