Nurses may
strike today

LONG-TERM care nurses at North Vancouver’s Cedarview Lodge
will be in a legal strike position at {1 a.m. today after serving
72-hour strike notice Thursday.

The B.C. Nurses Union (BCNU) was certified to “epresent the
facility's 21 long-term care nurses last June and the union has
been trying to negotiate a first contract since then.

She added that the union is ready to ‘take whatever steps nec~-
essary’’ to gain a first contract.
