MANAGER OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Memorial Library has an immediate need fcr a consultant to assist in the imple-
mentation of a volunteer program for the Library Board.

The Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the Volunteer program including:
development of policies and procedures; assessment of needs and design of
volunteer jobs; recruitment, interviewing, placement, training, scheduling and evalua-
tion of volunteers; maintenance of constant communication and consultation with
staff; design of an orientation/training manual; development and maintenance of a
management and records system; !iaison with the North Shore Information and
Volunieer Centre and retated bodies. A certain amount of public relations work will

also be involved.

This is a twenty-four months’ contract position (with a possibility of renewal) involv-
ing a basic work week of approximately 15 hours. Relationship to be covered by

contract for services.

The consultant will offer a university degree, preferably supplemented with a diploma
in the coordination of volunteer programs. Failing this, considerable experience as
a volunteer and as an organizer of volunteer activities will be required. Knowledge
of public fibrary functions will be an advantage. A mature manner and the ability
to interact well with colleagues and members of the public ate essential as is a

¢emonstrable ability to manage a volunteer work force.

FEE: Negotiable, but within the area of $1,000 per month.
